All good things must come to an closing. Canada 3.0′s was on Tuesday (yesterday) May 12, 2010. Both days of the conference were very exciting, informative and inspiring to say the least. There were many very interesting conversations, ideas and actions brewing amongst the attendees.
Yesterday I had a chance to meeting David Eaves one of Canada’s very inspiring and enthusiast of Open Data. David has launched the Data(dot)gc.ca. David and I had a chance not only to meet but to have a brief ten minute or so conversation on how to promote and push an open data initiative here in London regarding a few organizations. Over the next month I hope that Shawn Adamsson, David and myself are able to move and capitalize for the community on the discussion.
Though I was at the Fanshawe College booth in the Showcase and Networking lounge for the most part over the course of the two days, I was able to meet numerous individuals along with also listen to a few of the panel discussions.
However, over the past two days there are a few major things that were said and stuck with me. They included:
- Canada’s network for communication via telecommunication is almost the best we can do as we speak due to the large amount of traffic that is occurring.
- “We” (as individuals) are call to actions.
- With the many of “action” items discussed, we must do something about them and with them.
- This is our (the younger generation) world that we are inheriting. Therefore, we must give input to assure that what is happening is happening with our best interest.
I also had an opportunity to talk with Brian from TGT Solutions. The conversation was sparked with the discussion of a fellow class mate and his co-op work term with TGT. This conversation allowed me to gain insight as to what other student’s are working on throughout their co-op placement and I see that there are some very exciting projects happening where students of Fanshawe College are taking part in.
The conference has left me with overwhelming impression of Canada’s information technology, digital media and the future of where we are heading. I look forward to the future and many more conversations that have been sparked over the past two days which I hope will continue over the upcoming months.
