On September 13, 2010, I will be launching version 2.0 of NextStop – London Transit Guide. This is a big release for NextStop as it will include a variety of updates, new features and will also be compatible with additional devices.

The following list of devices below are currently in development and are planned to be released on the 13th of September.

  • Mobile Friendly Web Application – (Developed by Aaron McGowan [me])

New Features

The following list of features are a few, but not all, of the new and planned features.

  • Live Arrival Times – Display the expected arrival times of a vehicle at a particular stop.
  • Bus has Arrived Reporting – This will allow the users to report when a bus vehicle has arrived at a particular stop.
  • Routes on Detour – Display of all routes on detour at the moment. (Note: This feature is pending that data will be available and accessible.)

With this next major release of the various device applications and mobile friendly website, the apps and the server side data parser will be made released under an open source license for continued development and contribution by the public. The source will be made available through GitHub at http://github.com/amcgowanca/NextStop—London-Transit-Guide.

I hope that you have additional ideas, suggestions and feature requests for the NextStop apps. I look forward to hearing them and I hope you will share them with us via comments below or on the NextStop user voice forum at http://nextstopapp.uservoice.com/.
